This beautiful house was situated in the rural setting of the Purbecks. A real farmhouse, with exposed bricks and beams, so it was important that we respected the integrity of the architecture, by designing a classic kitchen. Conversely, this had to be lifestyle type of kitchen that could keep up with a busy modern family lifestyle. We think this modern classic kitchen design ticks all the boxes.
We’ve used a classic kitchen design style teamed up with some modern materials. The modern classic kitchen door material is painted oak grain in its appearance but is actually made from a high-quality vinyl. Vinyl covered doors don’t require any maintenance and are really easy to keep clean.
Another modern classic kitchen hybrid feature can be found in the drawer boxes. The stunning classic handmade dovetailed solid oak kitchen drawer box sits on state of the art soft close runners. Capable of holding up to 50kg it’s perfect for heavy stoneware pots and weighty plates.
We had this solid European Oak butcher’s block bespoke made to add some warmer tones into this modern classic kitchen design. It also makes a really useful and eye catching central feature.
The crown and glory of this modern classic kitchen project for us were the client’s choice of granite worktop. We arranged for them to visit our stone masons so they could choose their own granite slabs. This particular stone is called Sensa Bianco Antico. We all love it and think it brings all of the colour choices together beautifully to create an ultra modern classic kitchen.
This client had a bittersweet decision to make, they had a really beautiful looking AGA range oven, that simply wasn’t suitable for their quick pace life style. After lots of consideration, the old AGA went into retirement and was replaced with a stunning top of the range Falcon range oven. This particular model boasts state of the art technology, wrapped up in a timeless style design perfect to complete this modern classic kitchen.
